The Company Diagnostic is a half-day diagnostic in your organisation where Emma assesses first-hand how your organisation is performing. She insists on meeting with you, your staff and stakeholders to understand what actually is happening on the ground. Some organisations do not realise they are wasting tens of thousands because they cannot always see what is right in front of them. This investigation allows her to identify issues with productivity, potential cost savings and the impact these are having on the organisations profitability. The Company Diagnostic has one objective, to ensure the organisation is operating at maximum efficiency.

We don’t ask our employees for their feedback on us or the organisation

How do you praise your employees for good work?

Generally the whole team is praised, not just the individual

We do tell our managers to praise their team but we don’t know if they do it

We have a gratitude system in place to praise the excellent work by publicly acknowledging employees weekly

We have a Christmas party to celebrate our employees success

How would you describe your employee systems and processes?

When something arises with employees we deal with it then for that individual

We undertake some training and have most policies in place, if we need something then we do it

Significant time and money is put towards training and ensuring we have all the required policies in place

Our staff know where we are if they need something

There are no formal written policies in place and very little training

Do you get enough time to get your work done in the working day?

I manage to get most of my work done but with better staff I could do more

Rarely do I get everything I need done, I always seem to drop the ball

I thoroughly plan time so I can get everything done I need to

I ask for an agenda and outcome for each meeting to manage my effectiveness in it

I question whether attending is valuable and use online and phone options to save on travel time

How well do you stick to your business strategy?

A review of our strategies happens every quarter

We tend to not set forward strategies but work on the present needs

The strategies are reviewed at least monthly and updated or amended to move us forward

We don’t really have a business strategy but we do look at our business plan once a year

Our strategy is set annually and we that is when we review how we’ve done

How organised are your organisations systems and processes?

We do have some systems but we know that we need to do better

Our tendency is set something up if we need it

Some systems and processes work for the majority of the time

We none or very few formal systems or process in place

What performance tests and measures do you use?

There are some measures but we only look at these quarterly when we do our tax returns

We measure once a week on a Friday when we pay our bills

We don’t really measure anything other than profit

Monthly there are reports produced on the measures in place

There are daily checks on our performance, particularly sales and our cash figures

What technological processes and systems do you have in your organisation?

Technology is important to us so we review our situation on an annual basis

Some of our systems are computerised while others are still very manual

There’s not much use of technology

We use computers but are probably using out of date software and programs

We’re almost fully computerised and regularly update our software and hardware
